Below is a brief overview of how to return to the home screen on various Oculus headsets. Although the interface varies slightly between models, the general principle remains the same: press the main system button on the controller to open the universal menu, then select “Home.” For Oculus headsets (Meta Quest), the method for returning to the home screen depends on the model, but the process is generally the same: use the Oculus/Meta button on the right controller.
Oculus Quest (first generation)
Press the Oculus button on the right controller once to open the universal menu. In the menu that appears, select the Home icon—this will take you to the home screen. If necessary, hold the button for 1–2 seconds to quickly bring up the menu from within an app.
Oculus Quest 2
Press the Oculus/Meta button on the right controller once. The universal menu will open. Then select the Home icon (house) to return to the home screen. Holding the button also brings up the menu if you are in an app.
Meta Quest 3
Press the Oculus/Meta button on the right controller once to open the universal menu. From there, select “Home” (the house icon) to go to the home screen. If you hold the button for a few seconds, the menu will open again or you’ll quickly return to the interface.
Oculus Rift
Press the Oculus button on the Touch controller or the Oculus key on your keyboard. The system menu will appear; select “Home” to return to the home screen.
Oculus Rift S
Same as for the Rift: press the Oculus button on the right controller or use the Oculus key on your keyboard. Then select “Home” from the menu.
Oculus Go
Press the “Home” button on the controller—this will take you directly to the home screen. Holding the button down will open additional system settings.
