List of 3D glasses compatible with LG TVs

In the early 2010s, TV manufacturers actively promoted 3D technology. By 2012–2013, about 80% of TVs on the market supported 3D, as this feature was considered trendy and appealing to consumers. However, over time it became clear that 3D in TVs was more of a marketing ploy than a genuinely sought-after feature. The high production costs of such models, declining consumer interest, and the lack of 3D content led consumers to see no need for 3D.

At the same time, the industry shifted to developing a new generation of displays with UHD resolution, which did not initially include 3D support. As a result, by 2017, all manufacturers, including LG, had completely abandoned this technology. Nevertheless, owners of older LG models with 3D support can still watch 3D movies, but 3D-compatible glasses are required for viewing.

Compatibility of 3D glasses with LG TVs

Plasma TVs used active 3D technology, which requires active glasses. In contrast, LG’s LCD and LED models were equipped with passive technology. The first 3D-enabled LCD TVs had a special polarizing layer and required unique glasses. Starting in 2012, LG switched to producing universal passive glasses compatible with all TVs from that period.

The AG-F310 model became one of the most popular—it is compatible with all LG LED TVs released since 2012. Earlier versions, such as the AG-F200, AG-F215, and AG-F260, also debuted in 2012 but were later replaced by the AG-F300 series, which features improved polarization that reduces color distortion.

The AG-F400 and AG-F420 models, introduced in 2015, are largely similar to the AG-F300 series; however, the AG-F420 features a clip-on design, allowing it to be worn over regular prescription glasses. These versions are compatible with TVs from 2013–2014.

The AG-F310DP and AG-F400DP gaming glasses deserve special mention, as they allow two players to simultaneously view different images on a single screen. They are designed for specific games developed for LG 3D TVs with passive technology.

The AG-F220 model is specialized and is only compatible with specific TV models: LW6500, LW5700, and LW5600.

The AG-S350 and AG-S360 active glasses were developed for 2012 plasma TVs. And for the very first 3D models from 2009, with resolutions lower than HD, the FPG-200N and FPG-200F glasses were used.
