The Samsung Odyssey G9 series is Samsung’s premium lineup of monitors, offering a variety of models. In 2024, the series introduces a 57-inch model. If you’re considering a high-end gaming monitor, you’ll likely want to know how these models differ.

Differences between the Odyssey G9 2023-2024 monitors

  • Odyssey OLED G9 (G91SD): The 2024 model features an OLED panel with a 144Hz refresh rate. The cheaper OLED panel cannot run at a higher frequency. Therefore, this model of the monitor belongs to the budget models, and it is almost twice as cheap as other models in this series.
  • Odyssey OLED G9 (G93SD): updated model 2024, this monitor is equipped with an OLED panel with a refresh rate of 240 Hz, the monitor is better than the previous model in terms of speed and the lack of artifacts at high frame rates.
  • Odyssey OLED G9 (G95SD): a top-of-the-line 2024 model that combines a 240Hz OLED panel with Tizen OS 8.0. This monitor can work autonomously without a computer, you can install apps and watch your favorite videos from Netflix for example.
  • Odyssey Neo G9: 57 inch model, with LED display, mini LED backlight, 240Hz.
  • Odyssey OLED G9 (G95SC): a 2023 model with a 240Hz OLED panel and Tizen OS 7.0. While similar to the G95SD, it uses an earlier version of the OS that lacks some of the new features found in the G95SD.
  • Odyssey G9 (G95C): the 2023 model with a VA panel instead of OLED. Supports 240Hz refresh rate, but does not include an operating system.

Differences in monitor model numbers in different countries are mainly due to differences in technical specifications and after-sales service. Technically, these differences are often related to the voltage of the electrical grid in each region. Additionally, these differences help reduce warranty costs by allowing Samsung to offer warranties longer than 12 months while minimizing repair costs. It is important to note that a monitor designed for one country’s market is not eligible for warranty repair in another country.
