Sony has been using the Android platform in its TVs for many years. Starting in 2021, the brand transitioned to the more advanced Google TV interface, which is also based on Android. This update slightly changed the process of connecting Bluetooth headphones, but it remains simple and intuitive.
How to Connect Bluetooth Headphones to a Sony TV
First, turn on your headphones and activate pairing mode. The method varies by model — sometimes it’s a single button, sometimes a combination. The headphones will remain discoverable for five minutes. If pairing is not completed within this time, the device will automatically exit pairing mode.
Next, enable Bluetooth device search on your TV. The exact steps depend on the TV’s year of release. For 2021–2024 models, use the Quick Settings menu; for 2019–2020 models, use the HOME button and the “Remotes & Accessories” section; for 2017–2018 models, go to Bluetooth settings and select “Add device.”

Connecting Bluetooth Headphones to a TV Without Built-in Bluetooth
If your Sony TV doesn’t have built-in Bluetooth, you can still connect wireless headphones using an external Bluetooth adapter that transmits sound from the TV to the headphones.
The adapter connects via the 3.5mm audio jack or optical port depending on the model and available TV ports. It’s powered through the TV’s USB port or a phone charger. Note that standard USB adapters designed for computers are not compatible with TVs because they require software drivers that TVs don’t support.
