Choosing a TV is not the easiest thing to do, because the choice of models is too great, and their positioning is often incomprehensible without detailed consideration. Sometimes two televisions that are not very different in price have significant differences in terms of tech specs. So by paying a little more you can get a TV of better quality.
In this article we will look at two TV models. Samsung AU8000 is Crystal UHD TV, and Samsung Q60A is the entry-level QLED TV model.
Samsung AU8000 vs Q60A differences
The main difference between these two TVs is the display type. The AU8000 has a Crystal UHD display, the Q60A has a Quantum Dot display, both displays have an 8-bit color depth and support dithering to increase the number of shades. Also, both displays have an Edge backlight, which means that only large areas of the screen can be backlighted.
The maximum supported frame rate for both TVs is 60 frames per second. Although both TVs run on the updated Tizen 6.0 operating system, the Q60A has Game Bar support, but the AU8000 doesn’t have it.
Samsung Q60A comes with the TM2180E solar cell remote and AU8000 comes with the standard TM2180A Smart remote control.
Samsung AU8000 vs Q60A tech specs compared
Now let’s go a little deeper into the technical details.
If you look at the back of the TVs, you can see the same port layout, indicating the use of the same element base for these two TVs. You can make a quite logical assumption that they are TVs with the same processors. There is also no difference in sound both TV models have two speakers and a total sound level of 20 watts.
So it turns out that the only tangible difference is the type of display. And this plays a role.
Samsung AU8000 vs Q60A price compared
The cost of AU8000 and Q60A TVs differs by about $300 if we are talking about the TV model with a screen size of 65 inches. This makes sense, since the Samsung Q60A has a QLED display, such TVs belong to a higher range and they will cost more. How much of the price includes real production costs and how much is marketing, only the manufacturer knows, but based on my experience, I can say that the QLED display justifies its overpayment.
What TV is better to buy: Samsung AU8000 vs Q60A
If you decide to buy a TV, we recommend that you go to the store and look at the TVs side by side. This is the only way to really evaluate the picture quality.
If you want the best picture quality, the Q60A will definitely be the best choice. However, you might want to save some money. In that case, take a closer look at the Samsung AU8000.
