Hisense TV is manufactured by a Chinese company with the same name. You should know that Hisense is the largest OEM manufacturer of TV sets; Hisense provides a wide range of custom TV sets, so only 50% of the TV sets produced have the Hisense brand name. This is probably why there were hundreds of different TV models before 2021.
The meaning of the Hisense TV model number is explained.
Before 2022, the model numbers of TVs differed according to the region. We can distinguish the main areas: Europe, North America (USA, Canada, Mexico), North Africa, and Australia.
There were two types of model numbers, one for North America, Canada, and Australia. There were two model numbers for Europe and Europe: one old, which was changed to a new one in 2018. You may see TVs with both types of model numbers. This is due to the gradual transition to a uniform designation for TV models worldwide. In 2021, Hisense began assigning the same model numbers by structure to its TVs.
Example of Hisense TV model number, meaning explanation
Since 2021, the model numbers of TVs have been standardized a little bit by Hisense, and now you can get information about the TV from the model number; here is what information is available. Let’s look at an example, take model number 65U77HQ, and I’ll tell you how to decode it.
- 65 is the screen size in inches
- U – TV range, this is very relative as it usually just marks out a particular TV feature such as OLED, UHD, or Full HD
- 7 – TV series in the line.
- 7 – The TV model in the series may not be present in some TV models; for example, this letter is absent from the OLED TV.
- H – the year of development of the TV model, how to navigate I will tell you next.
- Q – design
Hisense TVs by year, what year is my Hisense TV
Hisense adheres to the rule that new models start in the middle of the year and continue to be produced at the beginning of the following year. This is typical for OEMs; early in the year, the development of new models, solves the issue of supplies, and production starts in the second half of the year. If you’re interested in pre-2014 TV models, you’ll need to look up the year of release from various sources, technical documentation, reviews, and TV reviews. After 2014, you can look for the letter indicator of the year the TV was developed and the beginning of sales.
- H – 2021/2022
- G – 2020/2021
- F – 2019/2020
- E – 2018/2019
- D – 2017/2018
- C – 2016/2017
- B – 2015/2016
- A – 2014/2015
How to know which region your Hisense television is designed for
You should know that different regions have different digital broadcasting standards; for example, North America has the ATSC standard, and Europe has DVB. To identify Hisense TVs add the international country code at the end of the model number, so you may see the 75U8H USA model is a TV for the United States. And the 75U8H AU model is for Australia. But there’s nothing listed for most countries, so be careful when choosing your TV and choose which digital tuner the TV has. Oddly enough, on some Hisense websites, such as those in Mexico and Argentina, I didn’t find any detailed specifications of the TVs, only advertising images.
Hisense serial number lookup: Hisense model number lookup
Of course, if you need the model number or the serial number of your Hisense TV, you need to find it first. You may also need the serial number when contacting customer service. Here’s where you can find that information.
You can always find the model number and serial number on the back of your TV. There’s always a sticker there with information about the TV. By the way, Hisense recommends that you look for information about the TV on the sticker; it’s the most accurate information there.
The model number can also be found in the TV menu. However, with so many TV models and operating systems on them, the order of searching for the model number and the serial number of your Hisense TV is very different. For example, here below, I have shown a picture of the menu Hisense TV; as you can see, the information can be found in the “System Massage” menu; the serial number is just zeros, and the model number was called “Service code”.
A third option for finding the serial number and model number is the packing box; I recommend taking a picture or saving part of the packing box with a sticker info about the TV.
Old model number of Hisense TV until 2021
As I said before 2021, there were many different model numbers of televisions. I can explain this by the fact that the company favored the production of televisions through the outsourcing system; the production of its models of televisions was secondary. This is still observed to some extent, but the company is trying to extend its brand.
