The Q90T series represents Samsung’s 2020 lineup of 9-series UHD televisions, available in four screen sizes for North America: 55, 65, 75, and 85 inches. These models, identified by the numbers QN55Q90TAFXZA, QN65Q90TAFXZA, QN75Q90TAFXZA, and QN85Q90TAFXZA, also have European counterparts labeled QE55Q90TAUXZA, QE65Q90TAUX**, QE75Q90TAUX**, and QE85Q90TAUX**. The final letters of the European model numbers vary depending on the country of sale.

Design Evolution

One significant change in the Q90T compared to earlier models is its design. Unlike the 2018 Q9F and 2019 Q90R, which featured a separate One Connect box for the control unit, the Q90T consolidates all components into a single chassis. This streamlined design makes installation and setup simpler.

Screen Specifications

All three models—Q9F, Q90R, and Q90T—feature 4K UHD resolution, 10-bit color depth, and VA panels with Quantum Dot technology, ensuring vivid colors and excellent contrast. Each TV supports 120Hz refresh rates, making them ideal for fast-paced action scenes and gaming. The Q90T maintains these screen features but introduces Direct Full Array 16X backlighting technology, enhancing its contrast and black levels.

Processing Power and OS

The processor remains consistent across these models, with the Q90T featuring the Quantum Processor 4K. While Samsung has minimized references to artificial intelligence capabilities in 2020, the TV still leverages machine learning for tasks like upscaling lower-resolution content. The Q90T runs on Tizen OS 5.5, which offers improved usability and built-in support for Google Assistant and Alexa without the need for software updates—features that earlier models required updates to enable.

Ports and Connectivity

The Q90T introduces an HDMI 2.1 port, supporting features like 4K at 120Hz, ALLM, VRR, and HFR, making it an excellent choice for gamers. Additionally, eARC (enhanced Audio Return Channel) functionality is included on an HDMI 2.0 port. Unlike the Q90R and Q9F, which had three USB ports, the Q90T includes just two, reflecting a design trade-off to simplify its layout.

Remote Control

The Q90T’s remote control, TM2050C (North America) or TM2090C (Europe), closely resembles previous models but introduces minor refinements. Samsung OneRemote compatibility ensures seamless control of other Samsung devices, maintaining the user-friendly experience.
