LST7TA vs LST9TA
In 2020, Samsung introduced a new line of The Terrace TVs. Previously, other companies made TVs for outdoor use. Mostly such companies were restyling indoor TVs. Improvements and adaptations to the outdoors were made as follows, the printed circuit boards were varnished, and the TV cooling was upgraded to allow the TV to work outside the home. Samsung also decided to enter this segment with its own TV models.
What’s the price of The Terrace TVs
Immediately you can notice the price difference between these televisions. The Terrace Full Sun Outdoor TV is more expensive, twice as much as the Terrace Partial Sun Outdoor TV model. I will now tell you how these two TV models differ in price. For a 65 inch Full Sun TV you will pay about $10,000 Partial Sun about $5,000. Why is there such a big difference in price, maybe Samsung used more advanced weather protection system in new model of TV and because of this the price of TV rose. Or maybe it’s just marketing.
The Terrace Full Sun Outdoor (LST9TA) vs The Terrace Partial Sun Outdoor (LST7TA)
The TV with the model number LST7TA, 2020, model LST9TA 2021. But if you look at the technical components, you will immediately notice that the TVs have different screens. The 2021 TVs are equipped with a new screen, but note that the screen has a 60 Hz refresh rate, the 2020 TVs supported a 120 Hz refresh rate. This means that the new TVs have a slower screen. Although this is not critical 60 frames is quite enough for comfortable video viewing. The screens are equipped with an anti-reflective coating, this reduces the reflection of sunlight from the TV and makes viewing more enjoyable.
The electrical components, processor and so on are the same. This is also indicated by the model number designation. You can tell by the model number that this Full Sun Outdoor TV has the same designation as the 2020 TV.
The LST9TA model has the updated software version 6.0, you will get some benefits of the new OS version. You can read more about the specifications in the table at the end of the article.
Full Sun Outdoor vs Partial Sun Outdoor
You might think by these names that the TVs differ in that one is designed to be used when it’s partially sunlit, the other can operate in full sunlight.
But that’s not true, it’s just marketing, if you look carefully in the description then on both of these TV models, one limitation is stated, namely:
The panel is protected for up to 6 hours in the sun at 700 watts and 104 degrees Fahrenheit; brightness may be reduced to protect the panel from other high temperature and sunlight conditions.
Let me give you some details, 700W is approximately how much heat the sunlight generates when it hits the earth’s surface in one hour per square meter of surface or 10.76 square feet, these values were determined by the NASA Observatory, more details can be found at
https://earthobservatory.nasa.gov/features/EnergyBalance/page2.php
This assumes that the TV should not get hotter than 104 degrees Fahrenheit or 40 degrees Celsius. Let’s just say that if you install the TV in a way that it will be exposed to sunlight, you probably won’t be able to provide the conditions stipulated by the manufacturer. The best solution, install the TV in the shade under a canopy. By the way, if you read the installation instructions, the TV should be installed under a canopy.
What you should know about installing The Terrace TV
Although the TV is protected from dust and moisture it is not airtight. Therefore, you must install it so that it is not exposed to direct sunlight or moisture.
