You should know the Magic remotes of LG TVs are compatible with TVs from other years. If you have a 2021 TV, a 2023 remote will work with it, but not vice versa. Remotes from previous years do not work with newer TVs. While LG claims that starting with 2019 remotes is compatible with previous years’ TVs, this is often not the case, and LG has nothing to do with it. There are just a lot of remotes on the market (replacement). LG does not make such remotes, and often, the manufacturer makes the remote compatible only with specific models of TVs, which cheapens the remote. Also, the old TV should get a new firmware that specifies compatibility with the newer remote.
Types LG remote control
A little about LG remotes: there are two types of remotes for TVs: Universal (hardly used since 2022) and Magic. There are differences between the two and here are the differences:
Smart remote: LG calls this the Magic remote. In addition to changing channels, this remote helps visualize the TV control. The principle of operation is similar to that of a computer mouse. With this remote, you can also control the TV by voice. The Magic remote control communicates with the TV via Bluetooth. One of the requirements for using the Magic remote is that the TV must be equipped with Bluetooth.
Standard (universal) remote: This remote works with all TVs and can change channels and control Smart TVs. However, it does not support voice control or cursor control. This remote requires no setup and works with any 2010 or newer LG TV. These remotes control the TV in the classic way using infrared signals.
Magic remote control compatibility with LG TV models
New remotes may work with older TVs. For example, in the US, LG states that the remote is only compatible with TVs from that year. But reviews from real buyers say the opposite, for example the remote from 2023 works perfectly with the TV from 2021. And this is really true, the fact is that in 2021 LG redesigned the remote, changing its shape and algorithms of operation, since then there are no more changes in the remote, you can make sure of this by visiting the LG remote developers page. To work properly, the remote must be paired with the TV via Bluetooth; once paired, the on-screen pointer and voice control will work. If the remote is not paired, it can work as a universal remote and control the TV using infrared signals. So be careful when buying a remote, it is best to buy a remote that has Bluetooth, many remotes even if they look like Magic remotes claim to be infrared.

What the Magic Remote model number means

No, you cannot use a 2016 remote with later TVs (incompatibility of bluetooth protocols). Your old remote will work as a normal infrared remote, but Bluetooth will not work, there will be no pointer and no voice support.
I don’t know if this has been answered before so I apologize in advance… I currently have the AN-MR700 remote.. The long silver remote. I once read that LG’s “Magic Remotes” will work on any other LG Tv’s… I wanted to know if anyone knows for sure if the MR-700 (originally designed for the LG Oled65G6 model) Will work on the 2023 LG Oled65C3 ? Your monitor 24TQ510S supports bluetooth. But LG says you need to check the specification of the wireless module to see if it supports the Smart remote control. Unfortunately, LG doesn’t say how to do this.

LG claims that the MR19 and MR20 can be compatible. But this rule does not work in all countries. Your TV must receive the latest update. The remote control must be original. You have to experiment there is no guarantee that the 19-20 year remote will work with your TV.

Hello, when you switch on the Autoset function on your TV, the TV searches for channels with the built-in tuner. Since you do not have an antenna connected to the (in ant) socket of the TV, it does not find anything. The TV has a built-in satellite receiver that can receive open satellite channels, but this requires a satellite dish with receiver heads tuned to the desired satellite. The picture shows the connectors for cable or terrestrial TV, below is the threaded connector for the satellite dish.
As for using the Magic remote, yes, your TV is ready to use the remote. Since your TV is 2019, you need the Ready remote (AN-MR19BA sold separately).
If you want to get the most out of your TV, connect it to the Internet. You can watch online streaming services and other TV programs available in your country. Using your TV to watch TV programs via antenna, cable, or satellite is outdated and really only allows you to use 40% of the TV’s capabilities.
Thank you Anatoliy. I am connected to a sky satellite and the engineer connected the box to the HDM1 connector in the TV. I can watch the sky channels, no problem but when I go to settings on the tv to autotone and I follow the instructions, autotune find no satellite or freesat channels. I’m in touch with people who know what needs to be done.

If you watch Sky, you must have a Sky receiver, you need to buy an HDMI to HDMI cable and connect the receiver to the TV. On your TV, select the HDMI input and watch the channels. If you have trouble setting it up yourself, get help from someone who knows about it.
I am an old fellow and all this is beyond me. All I know is I have just bought a LG tv. Model no:43LM6300PLA. It arrived with a “normal” remote and not bits of wiring other than a power plug. Auto tune doesnt work through a sky satellite. All I can watch are sky channels and can’y use the tv to its ssupposed full potential. HELP

No buttons are programmable, check the TV software and update it to the latest version. If the buttons still do not work, you will have to connect these services from the TV menu.
The remote has been delivered and it seems to be working fine out of the box.
The only issue is that the Disney/Rakuten/Google and Alexa buttons don’t work. Not sure if there is a way of activating or programming these?
According to LG information I’ve read on some of their websites, it indicates compatibility with 2019 TVs. For the remote to work, you have to update your TV’s software to the latest version. But whether that’s actually the case, I don’t know. If you get the remote, it would be interesting to know how it would work with your TV.

In LG TVs, if there is bluetooth Magic remote will work. But it is better to check on the LG website for your country whether this remote is supported by your TV.

If your TV has Bluetooth, it is compatible with AN-MR600. In 2015 there were modifications of TVs with and without Bluetooth. It is possible to buy replacement remote control with a Bluetooth module connected to USB. But such remote control does not support voice commands.

Thanks a lot for the technical explanation. In the meantime, I got a new mr600 remote, this one is unable to register and gives a msg on the screen as “failed to register magic remote. Please try again” This msg repeats inspite of re-registration procedure of home n back key 10 sec, power cycle, exit button 5 sec etc
Except the scroll/select button, every other button works fine. However, I am unable to select anything with this an600 remote. Please guide( my TV is 65UB980T).. thanks in advance!
maybe you bought an unoriginal remote control and it has no bluetooth in this case it will not work. The original remote control transmits information about the movement of the remote to the Bluetooth. The original remote also has a built-in gyroscope that reacts to the movement of the remote in space and moves the cursor over the screen through the Bluetooth.
I did buy MR500 replacement. However the pointer cursor moves only with scroll buttons… Shaking or moving the remote doesn’t move the cursor. All button functions work fine.

You can buy a new remote, but on the outdated model TVs to find the original remote is difficult. Not original remotes usually do not support voice control.
