Samsung’s Q900T and Q950T models represent advanced options in the 8K TV market, offering high-end features and performance. These models cater to different regions, with the Q900T available in North America and the Q950T intended for the European market. Below is a detailed comparison of these models, including design, screen technology, processor capabilities, and smart features.

The Q900T is available in North America under the full name QN75Q900TSFXZA and currently only comes in a 75-inch size, though other sizes may be introduced later. The Q950T model is intended for the European market, with full model names QE65Q950TS****, QE75Q950TS****, and QE85Q950TS****.

According to Samsung’s classification, the Q900 and Q950 TV models have technical differences. You can see the detailed technical specifications in the table, followed by a brief overview of the TVs.

Technical and Functional Differences

The Q900T and Q950T TVs consist of a monitor (screen) and a separate control unit. This design keeps the TV thin and simplifies repairs. The control unit connects to the screen via a special cable. The frame around the screen is nearly invisible.

Both models have 8K resolution screens made with MVA technology, supporting a frequency of 120 frames per second. In Europe, the PQI index is 4700. These TVs feature quantum dot technology and an 8K resolution.

The TVs use a MediaTek processor with A73 cores and a Mali-G52 GPU. This processor was developed in 2018, and in 2019, the GPU was updated to support 8K screens.

The number of ports in the TVs is almost the same, but there are significant differences. The Q900T model has only HDMI 2.0 ports, which means you cannot watch 8K video on this TV. HDMI 2.0 only supports 8K compressed format at 30 frames per second. USB and Ethernet speeds are also insufficient for 8K video. The TV’s main function is scaling the image to 8K.

The Q950T model has one HDMI port with 2.1 support, which allows you to watch 8K video over HDMI.

Standard Smart TV features are implemented, including support for Google and Alexa voice assistants. In the US, the remote control has quick-access buttons for Netflix and Prime Video.

Many users have noted that the visual differences between 4K and 8K are hardly noticeable from a distance of more than 1 meter. The difference is visible when showing 4K and 8K content, although scaling errors may occur. However, the TVs are very suitable for high-definition gaming.
