Let’s take a look at what has changed in the Samsung Q60 series TVs in 2020 compared to previous models. The 2020 model is identified as the Q60T, and this comparison focuses on TVs manufactured for the North American market. There may be variations in Europe and other regions, depending on the factory where the TVs were assembled.
For North America (USA, Canada, Mexico), the 2020 Q60T models have the following model numbers:
- QN43Q60TAFXZA
- QN50Q60TAFXZA
- QN55Q60TAFXZA
- QN65Q60TAFXZA
- QN75Q60TAFXZA
In Europe, the models are listed as:
- QE43Q60TAUX (with a country code at the end indicating the region).

Main Differences in the Q60 Series (2020)
The 2020 Q60T series TVs feature a modified screen with a new Dual LED system. This system uses two types of backlighting: cold and warm light. According to Samsung, this enhances the realism of the image. The screens still have an 8-bit color depth, with dithering technology (8-bit + FRC) to simulate a wider range of about a billion colors. These TVs use an EDGE type side-lit display.
However, when compared to the Q60R series from the previous year, the screens in the Q60T models are technically inferior. One notable difference is the refresh rate: the 2020 models support a 60Hz frame rate, whereas the previous models featured 120Hz refresh rates, offering smoother motion.
The processor in the Q60T series is now called the Quantum Processor 4K Lite. While this new name may sound like a significant update, it’s essentially just a marketing change, as the processor itself remains similar to the one used in earlier models. Another change is the reduction in the number of HDMI ports: the Q60T models have only 3 HDMI ports (compared to more in previous years), and these are standard 2.0 ports.
How to Position the Q60T Model
The Q60T appears to be positioned as a slightly lower-tier model than in previous years. This is largely due to the screen’s reduced performance—particularly the drop in refresh rate and the downgrade in backlighting technology. While still a solid option, the Q60T does not offer the same premium features that were present in earlier models like the Q60R, making it a more budget-friendly choice in Samsung’s 2020 TV lineup.
