Acer Inc. is a Taiwanese company founded in 1976 that manufactures a wide range of electronics: laptops, desktop PCs, tablets, monitors, projectors, and peripherals. Over decades of operation, the brand has established a strong position in the global market, offering devices primarily at competitive prices, but not always of high quality.

The quality of Acer devices can vary significantly, from good to very mediocre. This is due to several factors:

Purchasing components — Acer does not manufacture most components itself, but buys them from mass suppliers (e.g., BOE, Compal, Quanta, LG). Depending on the segment for which the device is intended, a compromise is made between quality, performance, and price.

Target market — higher-quality components are used for more expensive regions, which increases reliability and technical characteristics. Cheaper parts may be purchased for budget markets, which affects durability.

Overall, Acer is positioned as an affordable brand that competes primarily on price.

Where Acer Electronics Are Assembled

Acer’s manufacturing operates on a mixed model: part of its products are built in the company’s own factories, while the rest are assembled by contractors under outsourcing agreements. The company’s assembly network spans a wide range of countries, including Taiwan, China, Malaysia, Thailand, the Philippines, Vietnam, Singapore, Japan, South Korea, India, Brazil, and Hungary.

In Brazil, two factories in the state of São Paulo assemble laptops and tablets from imported components. These products are primarily intended for the domestic market and other Latin American countries. In Hungary, Acer carries out the final assembly of electronics destined for the European Union, which helps reduce import taxes.

The largest production facilities are located in Taiwan, China, Malaysia, Thailand, the Philippines, and Vietnam. From these locations, laptops, monitors, and other electronics are shipped to the United States, Canada, Asia, Africa, and many other regions. Monitors are predominantly manufactured in China.

In India, Acer established an assembly line to avoid high import duties imposed by the government. Most of the products manufactured there are sold domestically, with smaller volumes exported to neighboring countries. In Japan and South Korea, production is limited, focusing mainly on premium laptop and monitor models for the local markets.
