Samsung KS8500 and KS850D are versions of the same 2016 TV series. Both are curved 4K SUHD TVs with the same basic display technology and similar technical specifications.

The KS8500 and KS850D designations identify versions of Samsung’s 2016 KS8500 series.
The additional D in KS850D does not indicate a new TV generation. It identifies a different version of the product.
The complete model number also includes the screen size. The series was available in 55-inch and 65-inch versions:

Additional characters may be included in the full model code to identify the market or regional version.
Samsung KS8500 and KS850D display
There is no significant difference in picture technology between the KS8500 and KS850D. Both TVs have a curved 4K UHD display with a resolution of 3840 × 2160 pixels and belong to Samsung’s 2016 SUHD lineup.
Both models also support HDR1000, so the additional letter in the KS850D model name does not indicate a different type of display or a newer picture technology.

The same approach applies to the Smart TV features. Both models use Samsung’s Smart TV platform and a quad-core processor, so there is no major difference in how the TVs handle their Smart TV functions.
