VIZIO does not manufacture its own TVs. Instead, they are produced by original equipment manufacturers (OEMs). These companies design TV models, negotiate prices, and manufacture products under the VIZIO brand.

This manufacturing model is now standard in the industry. Many well-known brands rely on large Chinese companies to manufacture their TVs. VIZIO TVs are manufactured by OEMs such as BOE, Foxconn, Innolux, KIE, Tolly, TPV, and Zylux.

VIZIO is a well-known player in the TV market, although it is now owned by the Walmart retail chain. New models typically go on sale in the second half of the year. However, determining the release date of a specific model can be difficult because the model numbers have an inconsistent structure. Over time, VIZIO has made several changes to their format. From 2013 to 2018, the company used its first model numbering system. In 2019–2023, the model number format was modernized to reflect the emergence of new types of LED displays, creating the second system. In 2024, a third structure was introduced.

Vizio TV model numbers from 2024 to 2027 (third system)

Since 2024, model numbers no longer begin with a series letter. Every number starts with V, which shows that the product is a Vizio TV. It continues with the screen type, the size and the series letter. After the hyphen come four digits: the first two are the development year, the last two are the model variant.

Example: VQM65C-1004

  • V – Vizio TV
  • QM – display technology: Quantum Dot with Mini LED backlighting
  • 65 – screen size in inches (65 inches)
  • C – TV series
  • 1004 – 10 is the development year (2026–2027), 04 is the model variant
    • 08 – (2024-2025)

Screen type codes

  • H – HD (High Definition) resolution, e.g. VHD24M-0810 (24-inch, 2024–2025)
  • F – Full HD resolution, e.g. VFD32M-0807 (32-inch, 2024–2025)
  • 4K – UHD (Ultra High Definition), e.g. V4K50M-0809 (50-inch, 2024–2025)
  • QD – Quantum Dot technology, the code does not specify the resolution, e.g. VQD43M-0801 (43-inch, 2024–2025)
  • QM – Quantum Dot with Mini LED backlighting, e.g. VQM65C-1004 (65-inch, 2026–2027)

Series letters seen so far: C (Mini LED), R (Quantum 4K), M (HD and Full HD models, and most 2024–2025 models), and X on Limited Edition models such as VQD65X-10.

Development year (first two digits after the hyphen)

The last two digits are the model variant. For example, in V4K50M-0809, 08 means 2024–2025 and 09 is the model variant. One size can come in several variants: the 50-inch Quantum TV exists as both VQD50R-1007 and VQD50R-1010.

Short numbers in stores. Retailers such as Walmart often list the number without the variant digits, for example VQM65C-10 instead of VQM65C-1004. The full number is on the sticker on the back of the TV and on vizio.com.

Model number of Vizio TVs 2013 – 2023

Between 2013 and 2023 Vizio used two related systems. In both, the model number starts with the series letter, followed by the screen size, and the year letter comes after the dash (or right before the revision digits).

Example: M55-C2

  1. Series (first letter): M, P, V, D, E, or a name such as OLED. The same series can span many years, and a 2013 M-Series is very different from a 2022 one.
  2. Screen size: 55 means 55 inches. In 2013–2014 models the size is often followed by one more digit (M651d-A2R is a 65-inch TV, P602ui-B3 is a 60-inch TV).
  3. Model within the series: extra letters after the size (such as d, i, ui, u, n, x) separate variants. They don’t follow one consistent pattern.
  4. Year letter (after the dash): C means 2015.
  5. Revision digit: 2 is a hardware or design revision, often related to the stand or cosmetics.

Second system (2019–2023)

Around 2019 Vizio modernized the model number because of the new types of LED displays, such as Quantum and Quantum X. The structure is similar, but the model number now shows the display type.

Example: M65Q8-H1

  1. Series: M.
  2. Screen size: 65 means 65 inches.
  3. Display type and model: Q8. The letter Q marks a Quantum model, and the digit separates models within the series. Top models use QX (P75QX-H1) or the name Quantum X (PX65-G1).
  4. Year letter: H means 2020.
  5. Revision digit: 1.

A few things to know about this system:

  • Entry-level D and V series (D43f-J04, V555-J01) have no Q code. They keep the size, extra letters or digit, year letter and revision pattern.
  • The revision part can be one or two digits (-H1, -H13, -J01, -K04).
  • Some 2022 numbers are written without a hyphen and carry an extra M before the year letter (M55Q6MK01, D24fM-K01). The year is still the letter K, which means 2022.

  4. Check if the TV menu opens. In some TVs, you can select the blue screen when there is no signal in the settings. If the menu opens, the TV is in good condition.

  60. 2008 is not a smart TV. You can connect a Roky by purchasing a Roky device. Resolution TV 1366 x 768 pixels, HD
    you need the old Roku device. It’s probably better to buy a new TV.

    Easy Way
    If you have a Vizio TV that was purchased after January of 2011 you can use the remote control to bring up information about the TV right on the TV screen.

    Older TVs
    Press Menu on your remote control.
    Select “Help” on the TV screen and press the OK button.
    Go to “System Info” and press the OK button.
    The System Info page will give you a lot of information about your TV. The first thing listed on this screen is TVSN. This is the serial number of your TV.

    Listed right below the serial number of the TV will be the model number of the TV.

    Newer TVs
    Press Menu on the remote.
    Select “System” then press the OK button.
    Go to “System Information” and press the OK button.

  114. The model number of the TV set and the serial number can be found on the information sheet glued to the back of the TV set.

  116. WiFi modules have been installed in TV sets since 2010, most likely you have a simple TV without Smart TV. You can say something in more detail if you know the model of TV set.
