LG TVs released in 2015 can be divided into three main categories based on panel type and resolution: Full HD with IPS panels, UHD 4K with IPS panels, and UHD 4K with OLED panels. Full HD models were available in the 4, 5, and 6 series with screen sizes ranging from 22 to 65 inches. They are equipped with dual-core processors. The main advantage of the LF series is its combination of affordable pricing and high image quality.
Full HD TVs with IPS displays, LF series models
In 2015, LG introduced a wide range of LED TVs with Full HD and 4K resolutions. LG manufactures TV panels using IPS technology, which provides good color reproduction and brightness but mediocre contrast. The LF series includes models with screen sizes ranging from 22 to 65 inches.
The Full HD LF lineup consisted of models such as the LF4520, LF5100, LF5400, LF5500, LF5600, LF5800, LF5900, LF6000, LF6090, LF6100, and LF6300. These are entry-level models with a standard refresh rate of 60 Hz. Mid-range and high-end models were equipped with Smart TV features and 3–4 additional HDMI inputs. Premium models, including the LF6300, came with a Magic Remote.
UHD (4K) TVs, UF series
In 2015, LG introduced the UF series of UHD TVs. This lineup included models such as the UF6400, UF6430, UF6450, UF6700, UF6790, UF6800, UF7300, UF7600, UF7690, UF7700, UF8300, UF8500, and UF8600. Screen sizes typically ranged from 43 to 70 inches, with the most popular models featuring 49-, 55-, 60-, and 65-inch screens.
Each model in the UF series was equipped with a quad-core processor, providing the performance needed to run Smart TV features and upscaling lower-resolution content to near-4K quality.
The refresh rate varied by model. Most UF series TVs had a 60 Hz refresh rate, while higher-end models such as the UF7300, UF7690, UF7700, and UF8500 reached 120 Hz. In terms of connectivity, most models were equipped with three HDMI ports, while some entry-level models had two.
The more premium UF series models came with a Magic Remote, which simplified navigation. At the top of the lineup, models such as the UF8500 and UF8600 also supported 3D, although this technology is now a thing of the past.
TVs with UHD (4K) screen resolution, OLED displays, and models from the EG and EF series
TVs with OLED screens in LG’s 2015 lineup were designated with the model prefixes EF and EG, with EG referring to models with curved screens. LG’s OLED technology is known for its high color accuracy and exceptional contrast. Thanks to 10-bit color depth, OLED panels can display about a billion shades, creating a more natural and realistic image.
LG’s UHD OLED lineup included premium models such as the UF9500, EG9100, EG9600, and EF9500. Screen sizes were primarily geared toward the high-end segment, with 55- and 65-inch models being the most common, while the UF9500 was also available in a larger 79-inch version. Most of these models featured 4K Ultra HD resolution, with the exception of the EG9100, which was an OLED TV with Full HD resolution.

the use of an external receiver, is always better than the built-in processor in the TV.
Could you please expand on the Processor – “Quad Core” in the OLED Section? I have EF9500 and trying to determine if its better choice for 4k Upscaling vs. using external AV Receiver like Denon X2200 to handle the upscaling.
