Panasonic launched its first mass-produced 3D TV in 2010. The last 3D models came out in 2016 in North America and in 2017 in Europe. TVs outlast their glasses, so many owners now need replacements for lost or broken pairs.
- 2010: the first Panasonic 3D TVs go on sale; they are plasma models.
- 2011: Panasonic adds 3D to its LCD TVs. Sales of 3D TVs peak between 2011 and 2014.
- 2013: the last model year for Panasonic plasma TVs.
- 2016: the last 3D TVs for the North American market (the DX900 series).
- 2017: the last 3D TVs for Europe, the UK and Ireland (the EX series). After this, the 3D era is over.
Active vs passive 3D glasses
Panasonic made two kinds of 3D TVs, and each needs its own kind of glasses. Passive glasses will not work on an active TV, and the reverse is also true.
