The Samsung Galaxy A8 (2015) was a mid-range Android smartphone released by Samsung in 2015. It was one of the largest models in the Galaxy A series of that generation, featuring a 5.7-inch Full HD Super AMOLED display and a slim metal-body design.

The Galaxy A8 was positioned above models such as the Galaxy A5 and Galaxy A7 and combined a large AMOLED display with mid-range hardware. It should not be confused with the Galaxy A8 (2018), which is a completely different smartphone from a later generation.

The Galaxy A8 (2015) has a 5.7-inch Super AMOLED display with a Full HD resolution of 1920 × 1080 pixels. The AMOLED technology provides high contrast and deep black levels, while the relatively large screen was particularly suitable for watching videos and browsing the web.

The phone uses the Samsung Exynos 5430 processor with eight CPU cores and a Mali-T628 MP6 GPU. It was designed for everyday tasks, multimedia applications and games available when the phone was released. The device has 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. A microSD card can be used to expand the available storage.

For photography, the Galaxy A8 has a 16MP rear camera and a 5MP front camera. The rear camera is the main camera for photographs and video, while the front camera is intended for selfies and video calls.

The smartphone has a 3050mAh battery. Actual battery life depends on display brightness, network conditions, applications and usage. The battery is built into the phone and is not designed for user removal.

The Galaxy A8 (2015) originally came with Android 5.1 Lollipop and Samsung’s TouchWiz interface. Later software updates were released for some versions of the device. Because Samsung produced different regional variants, the latest officially supported software can depend on the exact model and carrier.

The phone supports 4G LTE as well as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS. Some features, including NFC and other network capabilities, could vary between regional versions.

Galaxy A8 (2015) model numbers

Samsung released the Galaxy A8 under different model numbers for different markets. This is important because specifications such as network compatibility and some hardware features could differ between regional versions.

The model number can be found in the phone’s settings under About phone or on the original packaging. When checking firmware, network compatibility or software updates, it is better to use the complete model number rather than simply searching for “Galaxy A8.”

The Galaxy A8 (2015) is also different from the Galaxy A8 (2018). Despite having the same A8 name, the two phones belong to different generations. The 2018 model has a newer design, different display proportions, newer hardware and a different camera system. Specifications for the two models should therefore not be combined.
