However in this article, I want to focus on two 2021 year models to help you understand which one is worth buying.
Both QN85A and Q80A are 2021 TV models, you can identify this by the letter A in the end of the serial number. You can learn more about Samsung TV model numbers in our article.
Samsung TVs 2021 briefly: In 2021, Samsung began producing TVs with advanced Neo QLED screens. In these screens, the backlighting of the screen is made using mini LEDs. The mini LEDs are placed evenly on the back of the screen and there are several thousand such LEDs, which allows for better brightness of the screen. However, Samsung hasn’t upgraded all of its production lines, so QLED and Neo QLED TVs will be on sale in 2021.
Samsung QN85A vs Q80A
QN85A is a TV model with a new screen that uses mini-LED backlighting. The full name of the TV model is as follows:
For North America – QN55Q80AAFXZA, QN65Q80AAFXZA, QN75Q80AAFXZA, QN85Q80AAFXZA
For Europa – QE55Q80AAUXXU, QE65Q80AAUXXU, QE75Q80AAUXXU, QE85Q80AAUXXU
Q80A – according to the technical characteristics this model is the same as QN85A, but in this TV set, the LED display of the previous generation is used. We do not have the exact information, but most likely the screen is similar to the 2020 models.
QN85A and Q80A tech specs
As I said, tech specs are the same for both TVs, the only difference is display type. All other parameters are the same. However, the Neo QLED TV has many blackout zones, which boosts the picture quality. At the moment I can’t say how much better the Neo QLED is than LED screens, it will be possible to tell after comparing the QN85A and Q80A side by side.
