TV OLED Vizio OLED55-H1, OLED65-H1 short review

Vizio has entered the OLED TV market with its 2020-2021 lineup, featuring two models, the OLED55-H1 and OLED65-H1 with 55-inch and 65-inch screens, respectively. Like other manufacturers, Vizio is buying OLED panels from LG, the only supplier of large OLED TV screens. These TVs combine premium screen technology with Vizio’s characteristic aggressive pricing to keep costs down compared to competitors, which is not a good sign. Here is a brief description of the main characteristics and features of Vizio OLED TVs.

Screen Features

Vizio OLED TVs are available in 55-inch and 65-inch models with 4K Ultra HD resolution (3840 x 2160 pixels). The OLED panels feature Pixel Level Dimming for perfect black levels and superior contrast. They support refresh rates of up to 120 frames per second. Features such as Perfect Black and Ultra Color Spectrum provide greater contrast and vivid colors, ensuring an immersive viewing experience.

Processor and picture quality

These TVs feature the IQ Ultra processor, which enhances picture clarity and optimizes HDR performance. They support multiple HDR formats including Dolby Vision, HDR10, HDR10+ and HLG. Vizio has also included a resolution upscaling feature to improve the quality of non-4K content. Despite the unique name, the IQ Ultra processor is a common MediaTek processor with a graphics chip that supports UHD resolution.

Smart features

The TVs run on SmartCast 4.0, an intuitive platform that integrates with popular streaming services and smart home devices. Supported services include Netflix, Prime Video, VUDU, Apple AirPlay, Apple HomeKit and Chromecast, as well as voice commands. The TVs also work seamlessly with Google Assistant and Alexa for hands-free control.

Ports and connectivity options

These models feature four HDMI ports – two with HDMI 2.0 support and two with HDMI 2.1 support. The HDMI 2.1 ports support important features such as variable refresh rate (VRR) and enhanced audio reverse channel (eARC), although they don’t offer full HDMI 2.1 compliance. There are also two USB 2.0 ports for multimedia playback. For audio playback, the TVs have digital audio output (optical) and eARC for high-quality sound. Wireless connections include Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.2 for pairing with audio devices.

Audio system features

The audio system consists of a 2.0-channel configuration with a total output power of 30 watts. The TVs support Dolby Audio and DTS technology to enhance the sound quality when watching movies and shows. The Bluetooth Audio Playback feature allows you to connect the TV to compatible Bluetooth speakers or headphones.

Gaming capabilities

These TVs support Variable Refresh Rate (VRR), providing a smooth gaming experience by synchronizing the screen refresh rate with your gaming device. They have a fast response time of less than 1ms, which is ideal for immersive gaming. However, they don’t support G-SYNC, FreeSync or Automatic Low Latency Mode (ALLM), which is a bad sign.
